it all began tonight
West Side Story wasn't as bad as i thought it would have been. the dancing and all, the whole package was good. the set, lights, costume were fab, but the very essence of it was just totally lacking. the feel of it was off, and it just didnt feel up to standards. i've come to the conclusion that West Side Story has too many dances, and the story was lacking. sure, the dance was really good and all, but dance, after dance, after dance, just got draggy and irritating. it would have been worth to have been up close so you actually see clearly what's happening, but i would have been rather sore paying $160 for the standard the musical was. technical aspects wise, it's really good. but, i didnt really feel much pain. i wasn't convinced that tony and maria were in love. just, in total teenage whirl. (Which, actually, if you think about it in the sense of romeo and juliet, is the whole point isnt it? hmmm ... food for thought here.) all in all the first half was rather dismal. but it somehow, i guess, redeemed itself in the VERY SHORT second half. and the gun shot at the end, only one problem. NO KICK.
in one line, if you dont mind bad set lay out and endless dancing, pay to see it. otherwise, just watch the movie. at least the movie was good.
anyway.
i found myself feeling totally irritated today. i know it's because i'm biased and all, but i guess, it was really irritating. i need to keep my temper in check. if not i'll always blow up and become super emo and dramatic. if i may put it in someone's words, i guess i dont mind playing the matyr. so deal with it.
be wise, cause this girl satisfies.
ann siang hill is a nice, quaint little place to be. i like the whole yuppie feel of it all, though it does feel a little snobbish and snooty. it is literally like stepping into a whole new place, leaving behind the hustle and bustle of chinatown, and entering a little street which feels alot like it could have been provence (i'm not sure of the spelling, but it's a french town! :P) or tuscany. as it's chinese name suggests, ann siang hill is really quiet, peaceful and serene. ('ann' means quiet, undisturbed, while 'siang' means serene and content.) i like it. and i am going to buy a pair of shoes from one of the shops there. designer. FOR ONCE :P
in any case i was walking today at ann siang hill and i walked into a post box. which is going to leave a mark coz it REALLY REALLY hurts.
and i feel fat. too much calories today. haha :P oops.
i NEED TO WORK OUT!!!
or hopefully doris will send me out to run more errands. haha :P
